What each series name means
Many Assam lottery series carry Tamil words, a few carry English words, and some are names from Hindu tradition. Knowing the meaning helps you remember which is which. It does not tell you anything about the result: a name is a label, not a sign.
You do not need to speak Tamil to read the result. The names are printed in English letters on the tickets and on the lists, and our pages use the same spelling. If a word looks strange, match it letter by letter with your ticket.
| Series | What the name means | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Dear | A plain English word | Often the first series on the lists, so many people check it first. |
| Rosa | From the word for “rose” | A separate series with its own sheet. |
| Kuil | Close to kuyil, the Tamil word for the cuckoo bird | Spelled Kuil on the lists. |
| Future | A plain English word | One of the English names, like Dear and Lion. |
| Singam | Tamil for “lion” | Not the same series as Lion. |
| Abble | A name only; the lists give no meaning | Spelled with two b’s on the lists. |
| Thangam | Tamil for “gold” | Not the same series as Swarnalaxmi. |
| Nallaneram | Tamil for “good time” or an auspicious hour | Only a name; it changes no one’s chances. |
| Kumaran | A Tamil name, also a name of Lord Murugan | A separate series with its own sheet. |
| Swarnalaxmi | Swarna (“gold”) joined with Lakshmi | Often typed Swarnalakshmi; the lists print Swarnalaxmi. |
| Vishnu | A name from Hindu tradition | A separate series with its own sheet. |
| Lion | A plain English word | Not the same series as Singam. |
The table follows the order of the lists we read, starting with Dear and ending with Lion. Our result cards, charts and sheets all use the same order, so once you learn where your series sits, you can find it fast on any page.
Singam vs Lion, and the two gold names
Two pairs of names are easy to mix up. The first pair is Singam and Lion. Singam is simply the Tamil word for lion, so it feels like the same thing. It is not. The Singam series and the Lion series are drawn separately and print different numbers.
So if your ticket says Lion, read only the Lion sheet. If you check it against Singam by mistake, you might think you won when you did not, or miss a prize you did win.
The second pair is Thangam and Swarnalaxmi. Thangam means gold in Tamil, and Swarnalaxmi joins swarna, the word for gold, with the name Lakshmi. Both names point to gold, but they are two different series with two different sheets.
Spelling adds a small extra trap. People type Swarnalakshmi, Kuyil or Nalla Neram, while the lists print Swarnalaxmi, Kuil and Nallaneram. The series is the same whichever spelling you use; just match the name on the ticket to the name on the sheet.
| If your ticket says | Read this sheet | Do not confuse it with |
|---|---|---|
| Singam | Singam | Lion |
| Lion | Lion | Singam |
| Thangam | Thangam | Swarnalaxmi |
| Swarnalaxmi (Swarnalakshmi) | Swarnalaxmi | Thangam |
| Kuil (Kuyil) | Kuil | Any other series |
| Nallaneram (Nalla Neram) | Nallaneram | Any other series |

Same prizes and the same 03:00 PM time
Whatever the name, the rules are the same. On every day we have stored, each of the Assam lottery series has six prizes with the same amounts and the same digit matching. All twelve appear on the lists we read at 03:00 PM IST, usually within half an hour of the draw.
Sharing a time does not mean sharing numbers. Each series is drawn on its own, so the Dear 1st prize tells you nothing about the Rosa 1st prize printed beside it. It is normal for the twelve 1st prizes of one day to look completely unrelated. They are.
It also means you never need to wait for a “second session” of the same series. Once a series appears on the lists, its sheet for that day is complete. Later on the same day, only the series that had not yet appeared can still arrive.
| Prize | Digits matched | Winning numbers | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st Prize | All 6 | 1 | ₹1,00,000 |
| 2nd Prize | Last 5 | 1 | ₹7,000 |
| 3rd Prize | Last 5 | 10 | ₹3,500 |
| 4th Prize | Last 4 | 10 | ₹200 |
| 5th Prize | Last 4 | 10 | ₹100 |
| 6th Prize | Last 4 | 100 | ₹50 |
That makes 132 winning numbers in each series and 1,584 for the whole day. A ticket takes only the highest prize it matches. The 1st prize is paid after tax: under Indian income-tax law, 30% tax plus cess is deducted at source from lottery winnings above ₹10,000. The prize and claim guide explains the steps.

If you search for a 12 PM, 5 PM or 7 PM series, you will not find one here. The lists we read carry all 12 series at 03:00 PM. Results at other times belong to other lotteries, such as the Lottery Sambad draws of Nagaland, which are a different family with different numbers.
Which series is your ticket?
Look at your ticket. The series name is printed on it, together with the draw date and the 6-digit ticket number. That name decides which sheet you read. The ticket number alone is not enough, because the same 6 digits exist in every series.
If you are not sure, the ticket checker can check all twelve Assam lottery series at once. It tells you which series, if any, has your number, and you can then compare that with the name on the ticket. Only a match in the series printed on the ticket counts.
If you hold tickets or bundles from several series, check each bundle against its own series, one at a time, so a win in one series is never put on the wrong ticket.
Checking a ticket in any series, step by step
The steps are the same for all twelve series. Here is an invented example. Say your ticket reads Vishnu, 561208. You open the Vishnu sheet of the draw date on the ticket and work from the top down.
- Is the Vishnu 1st prize 561208? If yes, you won ₹1,00,000 before tax.
- If not, is 61208 the 2nd prize or one of the ten 3rd prize endings?
- If not, is 1208 in the 4th, 5th or 6th prize lists?
- Stop at the first match. That is your prize. A ticket never collects two.
Do the same with the Dear sheet for a Dear ticket, the Rosa sheet for a Rosa ticket, and so on. Never look at the sheet of another series, even if the numbers there look close to yours.
The “seat result” phrase
Some readers ask for the “seat result”. On the lists we read there is no draw called a seat. People who use the word usually mean one series, or the full result of one day. If someone asks you for the seat result, ask which series name is on their ticket and open that series page.
The same goes for other local words. Whatever a series is called in a chat or a shop, the name printed on the ticket is the one that counts. When in doubt, read the ticket, not the message.
Following one series over time
Every series has its own page. It shows the latest full sheet of that series, its last 31 draws in a table and the digit counts across our archive. If you search for “assam lottery result thangam”, “dear result” or “kuil result”, the matching series page is the shortest way to the number.
For all twelve side by side across a month, use the monthly chart. Each row is a day and each column is one of the Assam lottery series, so you can follow one column or compare a whole day.
Want the background on the lottery itself, the law and how tickets work? The Assam State Lottery guide covers it in one place.
Play safe
A series name is not a lucky charm. Gold, a good hour or a lion on a ticket changes nothing about the draw, and no one can tell you which series will pay out. Under the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998 each state decides whether lotteries may be sold there, and some states ban them, so buy only where it is legal. Never pay anyone a fee to “release” a prize.

Series questions
How many Assam lottery series are there?
Twelve: Dear, Rosa, Kuil, Future, Singam, Abble, Thangam, Nallaneram, Kumaran, Swarnalaxmi, Vishnu and Lion. All twelve are published at 03:00 PM IST on the lists we read.
Are Singam and Lion the same series?
No. Singam is the Tamil word for lion, but Singam and Lion are two separate series with different numbers. Check the name printed on your ticket.
Is Thangam the same as Swarnalaxmi?
No. Both names point to gold, yet each is its own series with its own sheet. A Thangam ticket is checked only against the Thangam sheet.
Does every series pay the same prizes?
Yes. On every day we have stored, each series has the same six prizes, from ₹1,00,000 for the 1st prize to ₹50 for the 6th prize, matched on 6, 5 or 4 digits.
What is a “seat result”?
Some people say “seat” when they mean one series or one draw. The lists we read carry no separate seat draw. Find the series name on your ticket and open that series page.
Is one series luckier than another?
No. A name like Nallaneram (good time) or Thangam (gold) is only a name. Each series is drawn on its own, and every ticket in every series has the same chance.
Can my ticket win in a series not printed on it?
No. A ticket counts only in its own series. If your digits appear in another series, that is a coincidence and pays nothing.
Assam lottery series, in short
There are twelve Assam lottery series, all published at 03:00 PM with the same six prizes. Each is a separate draw with its own sheet. Singam and Lion are different series, and so are Thangam and Swarnalaxmi. Read the series name on your ticket, check only that sheet, and take the highest prize it matches. The result printed by the lottery department is always final.
